Belt Series

In 2009, Karate Body Records launched The Belt Series as a way to pair some of Louisville’s finest original bands with out of town friends and bands we’ve come across in the vast musical landscape. The series will consist of nine  split 7” singles from 18 artists. All are limited edition, and all are pressed on colored vinyl with custom packaging.

The Yellow Belt
Lucky Pineapple / Prizzy Prizzy Please
Lucky Pineapple brings its progressive mix of Caribbean, gypsy, funk with “Kablooey,” a previously unreleased track by the Louisville ensemble. Chicago-via-Bloomington compadres Prizzy Prizzy Please bring “Super Volcano,” an explosive jam led by white-hot falsetto and scorching keys. A onetime pressing of 500 copies were manufactured on yellow wax at Palomino in Shepherdsville, Ky., with 100 going to each band. Custom matchbook packaging by Dexterity. The Green Belt
Wussy / The Fervor
The Fervor’s live staple “No Apology” appears with Wussy’s “Fly Fly Fly” on The Green Belt. The second in Karate Body’s split 7″ series is pressed on translucent green vinyl and comes in a custom matchbook jacket designed by Dexterity Press. Only 500 were pressed, with 300 made available to stores. Currently out of stock. This title available through Carrot Top Distribution, Ltd

The White Belt
Pokey LaFarge / Joe Manning
The first in our Belt Series. Two new songs by two fine craftsmen: “Anita” by Pokey LaFarge and “Lately At A Lesser Table” by Joe Manning. Both artists bring a unique symmetry to this belt, each celebrating their own brand of old-world classicism shot through with youthful, literary vitality. This single is limited to 500 copies, 300 of which will be sold by Karate Body directly and in stores. The other 200 will be divided among the two artists for sale at their shows. We’re sold out.
