A foot of snow couldn’t derail their February shows, and now that the weather’s a bit better, the time is ripe for Wussy and The Fervor to revisit Pennsylvania and New York. The east-coast four-banger kicks off April 14 at The Smiling Moose on Carson Street in Pittsburgh, then on to The Fire in Philadelphia, the Cake Shop in Manhattan and wrapping up at Spike Hill in Brooklyn. Both bands are hard at work on new albums, and we’ll have more information on those as the months progress.
About 150 copies of The Green Belt limited edition split 7-inch are left, and they’re going fast. In Louisville, you can find them at karatebodyrecords.com, ear X-tacy, Underground Sounds and Shake-It in Cincinnati. Also this spring, The Green Belt will be available for the first time in the U.K. via Code 7 Distribution.

The third release in Karate Body’s Belt Series elevates the party. For the last six years or so, Lucky Pineapple has made our little planet three dimensional with its progressive mix of styles, from Caribbean to gypsy, funk to prog. Now they clobber us with “Kablooey,” an instrumental anthem chock full of what has made this collective a favorite for years: flashy horns, ass-shaking percussion and sunny guitar tones. After their sold-out showcase at this year’s SXSW Festival in Austin, it’s only a matter of time before LP’s infectious repertoire finds its way into stereos and clubs everywhere.
Joining them are Chicago compadres Prizzy Prizzy Please. Also an alum of SXSW 2010, P3 has put the cheek in tongue and cheek for years, bringing you hits like “Shorgasm” and “Ride the Love Bullet.” Now, on the heels of the release of their new album, Chroma Cannon (via Joyful Noise), comes “Super Volcano,” an explosive jam led by white-hot falsetto, scorching keys and saxophones. Like “Kablooey,” “Super Volcano” can only be found on this release. No digital.
The Yellow Belt arrives in late April, and will be available at two LP/Prizzy shows — April 23 at Zanzabar in Louisville and April 24 at The Bishop in Bloomington, Ind. Like the last two belts, only 500 will be pressed with 100 copies going to each band. Karate Body will have 300 for sale at $6.
Pre-order begins at midnight EST, here, on April 2.
