, The Fervor and The Ravenna Colt are scheduled to perform at the ninth annual Forecastle Festival, July 9-11 at scenic Waterfront Park in downtown Louisville. Tickets are on sale now, and you can find more information and scheduling at Forecastle’s website. Devo, The Flaming Lips and Smashing Pumpkins are among the headliners for this year.

Lucky Pineapple (12:30 p.m., July 10, East Stage) and its horny rhythm romp “Kablooey” appears on The Yellow Belt, a limited edition split 7-inch with Chicago’s Prizzy Prizzy Please, who contribute “Super Volcano.” Prizzy is on a U.S. tour now, so be sure to check out when they’re arriving, like a bright white UFO in the night.

The Fervor (6 p.m., July 11, North Stage) and its previously unreleased single, “No Apology” appears on The Green Belt split 7-inch with Cincinnati favorites and tourmates Wussy. Stay tuned for more as The Fervor’s finishing up work on its new album, Arise, Great Warrior.

The Ravenna Colt (8 p.m., July 11, North Stage) limited-edition, hand-numbered LP “Slight Spell” is in stores now. Each LP comes with a free download. He’s performing a free in-store show at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 7, at CD Central in Lexington, Ky. These will be the last two shows in the area for Colt ringleader John Quaid before he relocates to Boise, Idaho later this summer. More shows and video news on the way.

As well, Maiden Radio, featuring Cheyenne Mize, performs July 9 on the North Stage, as does Whistle Peak on Sunday, July 11. Both artists are featured on our inaugural release, Louisville Is For Lovers Vol. 9, available now in double LP on limited edition red-and-white marble vinyl. Mize’s duet album with Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Among The Gold, is available as a special MP33.3 release from Think Indie.




Fervor in the Knox

The Fervor returns to Knoxville this coming Friday, May 14, at Preservation Pub. This will be the band’s fourth trek to Rocky Top country, and we’re joined by special guests Plainclothes Tracy and Great Affairs. There will be copies of The Fervor’s limited edition split 7-inch, featuring their previously unreleased single, “No Apology” with Wussy’s “Fly Fly Fly” for sale at the show, as well as here on our site. These come on translucent green vinyl in custom matchbook packaging. Limit 500. Meanwhile, the band’s new album, “Arise, Great Warrior,” is being mastered right now, and we’ll have news for you on the vinyl edition of that soon.




Wussy, The Fervor hit PA, NY

A foot of snow couldn’t derail their February shows, and now that the weather’s a bit better, the time is ripe for Wussy and The Fervor to revisit Pennsylvania and New York. The east-coast four-banger kicks off April 14 at The Smiling Moose on Carson Street in Pittsburgh, then on to The Fire in Philadelphia, the Cake Shop in Manhattan and wrapping up at Spike Hill in Brooklyn. Both bands are hard at work on new albums, and we’ll have more information on those as the months progress.

About 150 copies of The Green Belt limited edition split 7-inch are left, and they’re going fast. In Louisville, you can find them at karatebodyrecords.com, ear X-tacy, Underground Sounds and Shake-It in Cincinnati. Also this spring, The Green Belt will be available for the first time in the U.K. via Code 7 Distribution.

The Fervor announce new tour dates

Is split-mate a word? Screw it. We’re usin’ it anyway. The Fervor will do some damage this winter with Wussy, including two shows with Wussy, their partners on The Green Belt split 7-inch we released back in October. The single is wax only and limited to 300 copies, of which we have less than 200 left. Stay tuned for news on The Fervor’s forthcoming album, due out later this year, as well as more spring dates with Wussy.

Winter update 2009

Come celebrate the release of Phantom Family Halo’s new double LP, “Monoliths & These Flowers Never Die” on Wednesday, Nov. 25 at Lisa’s Oak St. Lounge (1004 E. Oak St. in Germantown). Softcheque and DJ Chaddles also perform. Doors at 9 p.m. Cover is $5. Each copy of “Monoliths” comes with a free digital download of the entire album. The band heads to the east coast and Canada beginning Friday, Nov. 27, with Young Widows and Russian Circles, so let’s send the band off in style.

Friday, Dec. 4: Joe Manning opens for Dave Rawlings Machine at Headliners Music Hall. Doors at 8 p.m. Tickets for the 18-and-over show are $20 an can be purchased at Ticketweb.com. Manning’s new track, “Lately at a Lesser Table” appears on The White Belt split 7-inch alongside “Anita” by Pokey LaFarge. The single is the first in The Belt Series, is pressed on white vinyl and designed by Dexterity Press in Chicago. the title is available at ear X-tacy, Underground Sounds, Skull Alley, karatebodyrecords.com and all Joe Manning and Pokey LaFarge shows. Additionally, Manning also appears on several tracks of the upcoming compilation, “Face A Frowning World: An E.C. Friday-Saturday, Dec. 11-12: The Fervor plays its first West Coast dates at The Makeout Room and The Kaleidoscope in San Francisco. The band will spend two weeks there in December recording the follow-up to its 2007 debut, “Bleeder.” Meanwhile, “No Apology” appears alongside Wussy’s “Fly Fly Fly” on The Green Belt. The limited edition split 7 comes on translucent green vinyl, and fewer than 250 copies remain. Saturday-Sunday, Dec. 12-13: Pokey LaFarge returns to The Monkeywrench (Barret Ave. in the Highlands) following a massive, never-ending U.S. tour to support his latest CD, “Riverboat Soul.” LaFarge ends his two-night stint at Captains Quarters Dec. 13, before heading back over to the U.K., where his initial tour of the place met with rave reviews. The White Belt wax with Pokey’s “Anita” will be for sale at these and all Pokey LaFarge shows, but the singles are moving fast. Fewer than 150 are left.
