‘Arise, Great Warrior’ a rebirth of rock

By Cody Johnson / North Of Nashville
Lately there has been a growing trend, the rebirth of the garage-rock/noise rock style in bands. Luckily, Louisville’s own The Fervor is not one of them, finding the perfect middle ground between distorted and clean, making something of an indie-grunge masterpiece with their latest effort Arise Great Warrior.
From the first listen, you’ll be absolutely hypnotized by front-woman Natalie Felker’s unmistakable voice layered over crunchy guitars and rich keys. It’s the perfect combination of The Kills and Queens of the Stone Age. “Arise, Great Warrior” begins playfully but is soon joined in full by a smashing wake-up call around the 2:50 mark when full band shows off their raw talent.
This band is not afraid to get “progressive” showing off their vintage keys and gritty tone on “Clearly As the Sun.” The icing on the cake comes with “Crazy For the Feeling” sporting the infectious chorus “golden aura/on a wave of paranoia.” It’s enough to make you want to dust off that old guitar in the spare bedroom and shred.
That’s exactly what makes The Fervor a staple of the Lousiville music scene. They’ll be performing on Friday July 1 at the beautiful Mellwood Arts Center as part of Louisville Brewfest. You can find more about the band at their website at www.thefervor.com and see the video for “Crazy For the Feeling” below.
